Pot Holes - Chapter 5

(A/N: Even though our lovely Jordan Staal decided to turn down a huge deal to remain with the Penguins to go to Carolina, he will stay in my story since I already have 2 1/2 chapters and I still love him. So just ignore the fact that he doesn't really play for us anymore. In my head he does lol. And a huge thanks to TEPHYWASHERE for commenting! I hope you enjoy!)

When Sara and Vikki finally reached Dejavu Lounge, Sara groaned at the line that was there even though it was December. She sent James a quick text message telling him that they were there as they took their places in line. “Well at least we aren’t dressed” She muttered to Vikki, who glanced up ahead at some of the girls who had dresses on so short that Sara was sure she saw things that she never wanted to see again. Not that she minded short dresses, but she was never one those girls who dressed in barely there clothing where you left nothing to the imagination. After about 15 minutes, it felt like they weren’t getting anywhere and Sara was starting to think that her toes were frozen when she heard her phone go off.

“Where the hell are you?”

Sara smirked and showed Vikki before texting him back with her shaky fingers since she had to take off her gloves.

“We’ve been waiting in line to get in! Not all of us are famous.”

Another 5 minutes later her phone started to go off, “Yes James?” Sara replied, stepping a little away from the crowd.

“What! Hello! Hold on!” James yelled over the music. Sara could hear him yell to someone he’d be right now before finally the music died. “Hello? Can you hear me now?”

“Ten-four rubber ducky. Gotcha.”

“Rubber ducky? Anyway, what do you mean you are waiting in line?” He asked, sounding like it was the most ridiculous thing ever.

Sara shook her head and laughed, “We have been out here in line for 15 minutes now waiting to get in. Not sure when that will happen. Apparently this is a happening place.”

James pulled the phone away and started talking to someone before turning his attention back to her, “Do you know where the back door is?”

“No. Sorry James, I do not make a habit of sneaking out back doors of clubs.”

James sighed and told her to hold on as he yelled some more things to someone else. “Ok, just head down to Spring Way, turn left and I’ll meet you out there.” The two of them hung up before she grabbed Vikki and started walking down the side walk, following James’ directions. Walking around the side of the club, they passed a few drunk guys who yelled out at them before stumbling on. “How many blondes does it take to get into a club?” James said as he stepped out from a dark shadow, making Sara and Vikki both jump back.

“Hahaha…that’s funny. Really. Do you make a habit of hiding in the dark to scare girls into coming home with you?” Sara replied with a smirk which caused James to laugh and wrap an arm around her shoulders.

“No, but when you party with Crosby you have to know all and any exit incase the crowd goes crazy. Is your friend just going to stand there?” James said with a nod back at Vikki who hadn’t moved since he had approached them. Sara could see she was trying not to have a freak out moment and she couldn’t help but laugh at her, knowing exactly how she was feeling.

“Just freak out Vikki, that way you won’t upstairs.” Sara said as she continued laughing.

“Sara! I can’t do this! I cannot go up there and just meet Jordan Staal like it’s nothing! How do you this? You do know that’s like…like James Neal…right? And he’s going to take us to penguins. And Jordan is going to be there…” Vikki exclaimed, pacing back and forth for a moment still mumbling. Right when Sara thought she might have actually lost it, Vikki took a deep breath before pushing past the two. “Ok…lets party.”

James lead the two of them upstairs after telling the bouncer they were with him. Sara took her time appreciating the way his jeans looked on his ass and the way light grey button up shirt was stretched across his broad shoulders, following the lines of his body as they cut down into a V at his waist. The music was loud and she knew she was going to be deaf tomorrow as they were lead to VIP section. A few of the guys were lounging on the couches that lined the wall and Sara could see the tell all sign of puck punnies in presence by the one that was practically sitting on Geno’s lap. James turned back at them and motioned for them to give the server their coats. Once Sara slid off her coat, he had to remind himself to breath. He had noticed how she looked before, but tonight it was different. She wasn’t model beautiful, more of what people would call classic beauty. But the baggy clothes she wore at the hospital didn’t do her body justice, when she handed her jacket to one of the staff to check for her noticed the bare skin of her back with her blonde curls tumbling down and the way her jeans hugged her ass just right. He looked over at Vikki as she did the same. She was built similar but a lot shorter, noticing that she had a girl next girl hotness about her, he knew he was going to have to keep a few guys off of both of them. “Sara!” He heard Jordan yell before he barreled past him. Too late.

“Jordan!” Sara yelled back, laughing when he engulfed her in a hug. “Jordan this is my friend Vikki!” She said over the music, pulling away from him and stepping away. She swore that his smile got even bigger when he set his eyes on the blonde next to her.

“You guys are so little! I could like stick you in my pockets and keep you forever.” Jordan said as he wrapped his arms around both of them and lead them over to the rest of the group.

“You know…great things come in small packages.” Vikki said, looking up at his face, grinning when he raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Like dynamite.”. Jordan laughed and shook his head. Sara could already tell there was going to be a problem. When everyone turned their attention to the yelling, hugs and introductions went all around. A few guys that she hadn’t met personally were there and there was alcohol flowing all around. Kris came over to them with shots in his hands which each girl eagerly accepted, and downed quickly. Vikki grabbed another shot, Sara knew it was to calm her nerves. “Time to party ladies?” Kris asked in his smooth accented voice that Sara was pretty sure made panties drop around the city.

Once settled on the couch between James and Kris, Sara took the drink Vikki handed her then gave her a sympathetic look as she settled on another couch, TK and Jordan sandwiching her. Listening to all the guys rib each other and joining in, Sara thought her insides were bursting from all the laughter. Jordan and Geno going out on the dance floor to dance together to one of those songs that give you the directions in the music was the icing on the cake for her and she couldn’t help herself from taking a few pictures on her phone. Quickly glancing over at Vikki who was abnormally quiet for her, Sara quickly sent her a text since the music was far to loud to talk over.

“You ok over there?”

“We are sitting in the VIP section with hockey players…Penguins Sara! And what is with the arm around you from Neal?”

Sara looked up from her phone and shrugged at Vikki before glancing over at James. He turned and looked at her, Sara felt herself get lost a little in his blue eyes. She nudged him a little before grabbing her phone and drink again.

“Just breath! Its hard with all the hotness and ego that’s in here. And I’m quite comfortable btw.”

“Staal is fucking beautiful! How did you not warn me? And Tanger with his hair…seriously.”

Sara and Vikki both looked at each other and laughed before Sara started to type out a response.

“He does look like a giant golden god. Those genes are incredible. Especially as you know with me, Eric. Dreamy. And if Kris runs his hands through his hair one more time and looks at me with those dark mysterious eyes I’m going to turn into a puddle. But right now, I’m sort of partial to green sparkling ones.”

The two girls continued to laugh and text, obvious to the fact the Kris was sneaking glances at Sara’s phone the whole time. He even got James’ attention who started watching too. James watched Sara’s profile from the corner of his eye, he couldn’t help but smile when her eyes lit up when she laughed, finally not seeing the stress on her face she was always wearing. “So Sara…” Kris said with a grin as he pushed his hair from his face, making sure to linger a little longer then needed. Sara blushed and then Vikki started to laugh when they realized he had read everything they wrote.

“Oh screw you guys!” Vikki yelled before standing up and grabbing Sara, pulling her up, away from James. “We’re going to go dance!”. After doing one more shot of tequila, Vikki dragged a protesting Sara down the steps to the dance floor. Feeling the fuzziness from the alcohol, Sara quickly forgot about not liking dancing in public and started to move to the quick beat of the music. Closing her eyes and laughing along with Vikki, she lost herself in the music. It felt good, almost as if she was dancing away all the stress and hurt she’s been feeling when for almost the past year. When she felt a hand slide around her before settling on her hip, she almost jumped but relaxed when James murmured a greeting in her ear.

James watched her from over the balcony and it only took 3 minutes of watching Sara move her body to the music before he felt the need to be down there with her. He slid his hand along the strip of her flat stomach that was exposed before pulling her snuggly against his body, moving his hips along with hers. He changed the speed, as the music changed. A slower beat filled the club and James almost groaned at the way her ass moved against him. Telling himself they were just dancing like everyone else, he turned her around to face him. Sara wrapped one arm around his neck, the other rested against his back, feeling the way his muscles move as his body moved. She bit her lip and smiled up at him as he ran his hand down her bare back before resting right above her ass and pulling her as closer. Sara watched the emotions flicker in his eyes before settling on a dark one as their hips moved against each others. She had to quickly look away before she got caught up, glancing around the crowd. Couples were pressed close and the crowd was pressed in on everyone. For a brief moment she saw Jordan dancing with someone but she couldn’t see who. Nodding over in his direction, James got the hint and scanned the crowd before grinning and mouthing “Vikki” to her. Sara just shook her head before she got lost in the movements of their bodies again, twirling her fingers in the hair at the base of his hairline.

When the song ended, Sara felt another pair of strong hands pulling away from James. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw a smirking Sidney Crosby who had a hat pulled down low in hopes of hiding who he is. Kris, Geno, Jordan and Vikki soon joined them as the music changed to something that had the crowd bouncing on their feet, arms in the air. “You boys are crazy!” Sara yelled as her and Vikki were surrounded by a wall of hockey players. Vikki threw one arm around her and yelled ‘Thank you!’ in her ear. “I need water!” Sara yelled before pulling away from the group as Vikki was showing Jordan and Geno the proper technique of the ’shopping cart’ dance move. She heard a few others say they wanted the same. James grabbed her hand and started to push their way through the crowd towards the bar. Sara was thankful once again for his size as she leaned herself against his back.

“6 waters please!” James said to the guy behind the bar and Sara slapped down money before he had a chance. “Put that away” He said, turning back to her. Sara shook her head and smirked at him as she moved to stand against the bar, waiting for their water. James grinned and pressed himself against her back, arms on either side of her body. “I‘ll take care of everything when you‘re with me” He whispered in Sara’s ear as he slowly slid her money into her back pocket. Sara froze and closed her eyes for a moment before shaking her head and looking over her shoulder at him.

“You are a very dangerous man.” She said with a smirk as she grabbed a few of the bottles of water and moving back towards the crowd. When she saw that mostly everyone had moved back to the VIP section, she headed up the stairs and smiled at the bouncer as he let her pass. She tossed around the water bottles to the ones who wanted them, noticing that somehow more girls had got into the lounge and their clothes seemed to have gotten shorter. “Oh for real…gag me” Sara muttered as she flopped down next to Vikki.

Vikki laughed and pushed another shot towards Sara, “I know right?”. When Sid came and pushed his way in between them, he quickly grabbed the shot out of Sara’s hands. “What’s wrong Sid? Are the puck bunnies scaring you?” Vikki said with a smirk as he downed 2 shots. He choked slightly on the last one before glancing at her with an ‘Oh shit’ look on his face. “Yes I know who you are. You’ve missed my freak out moment over Staal. It’s passed now as long as the booze keep flowing.”

Sidney laughed and relaxed a little, “Just don’t tell the one on TK’s lap. I swear that girl stalks me. She’s always at the games, the clubs. I’ve even seen her outside my house their building. It’s not even listed under my name yet!” He exclaimed. James finally joined them, taking the last seat on the end next to Sara, laughing at Sidney as he tried to slide down further on the couch so he couldn’t be seen. The four of them laughed and talked for a bit before a high pitch squeal sounded over the music. “Oh fuck” Sid muttered as he covered his face when a girl bounced over to them.

“Sidney! I didn’t know you were hear!” The girl said as launched herself onto his lap. Sara shared a disgusted look with Vikki when they realized it was the same girl they saw in the line. Her extremely fake platinum blonde hair matched her extremely fake boobs and fake tan. She snuggled up on Sid’s lap as James kept snickering at his problem.

“Brittney I’m busy here.” Sidney muttered as he tried to politely dismiss her as she continued to squirm on his lap.

“How about we go back to my place…?” The puck bunny, or Brittney, said as she actually licked the side of Sidney’s face. Sara and Vikki both couldn’t take it anymore, girls like her just gave blondes a bad name. Sara gave Sidney a look and when she got a nod in return, Vikki quickly pushed the girl off of Sid’s lap and onto the floor.

“He’s not interested so why don’t you go somewhere else.” Sara said as Brittney all but squealed again. When Brittney stood up, she quickly got in Sara’s face. “Listen, I don’t know you, I don’t know how you got up here but he’s not interested. So step the fuck back and shut your mouth.” Sara said in a low don’t fuck with me tone as she stood up so her and Brittney were nose to nose.

“Fuck you bitch! He was mine first. He’s just playing hard to get!” Brittney yelled in her face and it was everything for Sara to keep her cool. She could see Vikki inching her way towards them even though Sidney was trying to keep her back and James was telling them both that they should calm down.

“I’m serious, shut your mouth before I make you. Get it through your head, he doesn’t want you. If I hear about you following him again, you’ll have to deal with me.” Sara’s hands were clenched at her sides, she didn’t like to fight but she wasn’t one to back down, especially after this girl started to call her every name under the sun.

“You’re such a slut! Dirty nasty cunt!” Brittney yelled before she tossed her drink at Sara, drenching her shirt and face.

“Oh fuck no.” Sara yelled before she pulled back and hit Brittney in the face, before she had a chance to throw another punch, Vikki had flew off the couch and had tackled Brittney to the ground. It was all a blur after that, James had his arms around Sara, practically lifting her off the ground as she fought against him to join in the fight since one of Brittney’s friends had tried to come to her rescue. Vikki was rolling around on the ground, kicking and punching Brittney as Brittney tried to fight her off with her claw like fake fingernails and pulling hair. Sara was able to grab Brittney’s friend by her hair before she had a chance to grab a hold of Vikki. James yelled at her to let her go as Jordan picked Vikki off the ground and throw her over his shoulder, much to her screaming protest. Sidney had grabbed Brittney pushing her towards the bouncer who finally realized what was going on.

“Take care of them” Sidney muttered before turning back to the group, “Sara please let go of her hair.” When Sara let go of her hair the girl quickly ran after her friend and out of the lounge. “I think it’s time we get out of here.” Sidney muttered, unable to hide his smirk. A small group ushered Sara and Vikki out the backside of the lounge and towards the back door before the bouncer came back to kick them all out. Sara and Vikki were still fuming by the time they got outside, oblivious to the cold from all the adrenaline. Kris ran down after them, everyone’s coat in his arms, James quickly helped Sara get into hers since she was drenched before putting on his own.

“So where to now…..after such a fine display of I don’t what the fuck that was for our lovely captain.” Jordan said with a grin. The rest of the group stared at him before laughing at what just happened. “Denny’s? Cause I’m starving and it’s only 10:30. Way too early to go home.”

“Jordan you’re always hungry.” Kris said as he punched him in the arm as they started to walk towards where Sara assumed they parked at.

“Well Vikki and I are over here.” Sara said as she pointed down a side street as the guys kept walking forward. James and Jordan told the rest of the players which Denny’s to meet at, after James yelled at Kris to watch how he drove his car, they turned and followed the girls. “I guess you two are riding with us.” Sara replied as James wrapped an arm around her shoulder. The four didn’t really talk once they got into the car, except for Jordan who was going through the ‘epic chick fight’ he just saw.

“It was just great. Once punch from Sara then Vikki flying off like some spider monkey. Boom on the ground. Just beautiful. Really.” He said with a grin and a laugh. Sara shook her head as she navigated the streets of Pittsburgh towards their destination. When they reached Denny’s, they were relieved that it looked dead for this time of night. Kris, Sidney, TK and Geno were all waiting for them in the parking lot when they pulled up. They got a nasty look from the woman who was supposed to be their waitress as they all piled into one of the large booths in the back of the restaurant. They gave her all the drink orders and food orders all at once so she wouldn’t have to keep coming back.

“So where did you two learn to fight like that?” Sidney asked, looking at Sara and Vikki who were sandwiched between James and Jordan. “Which you really didn’t have to do, not that I didn’t enjoy the show.”

“Haha. That’s what happens when you tangle with country girls. We learned to punch, not slap” Vikki said with a grin.

“I think one of my favorite parts was when Sara snatched that bitch up by her hair while James was holding her up off the ground. You should look into hockey.” TK said with a grin that made Sara blush and cover her face in James’ shoulder. She all but groaned in relief when the coffee arrived, the alcohol was starting to wear off and she was getting a headache. The group continued to laugh and tease Vikki and Sara about their fighting debut as they ate their food. True to his word, Jordan ate his whole Lumberjack special before finishing off Sara’s food when she said she was done. Sara was having a really good time until she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, she tried not to freak out when she saw it was Nathan.

“What’s wrong Nathan?” She said, answering quickly as she climbed over James’ lap to reach somewhere that wasn’t the noisy restaurant.

“It’s Cait. Normally I could handle this, but Cody doesn’t remember where her meds are and she’s so sick. I just don’t know what to do!” Nathan said frantically into the phone. Sara could hear her little girl crying in the background and she could feel a cold sweat of fear break out all over her body.

“Listen Nathan, calm down. I’ll be there as fast as I can. For right now…” Sara quickly gave him instructions on what to do, along with telling him it was all right and to just comfort Cailt the best he could. After hanging up, Sara dashed back over to the table. Everyone instantly stopped laughing when they saw her face. “It’s Cait, I have to go. Vikki can you find a ride?” Jordan nodded before Vikki had a chance to answer for her.

“I’m taking you” James stood up and grabbed her hand. “You can’t drive like this. Vikki can drive your car home. Let’s go” Sara didn’t even get to argue with him before he was dragging her out the door and towards his car.
